Techniques
The techniques
of the Kyushu system are over seven hundred years old and have been
battle proven. Techniques requiring brute strength just do not exist
here. Emphasis is on body weight and center of gravity, proper body
mechanics and internal energy for power.
The Kyushu system relies on devastating the
opponent with Kempo like strikes before applying control techniques or throws.

The system is designed mostly for close combat from grabs, chokes, bear hugs, head locks or ground grappling. There is however, some sparring and techniques for distance type fighting. Techniques are executed in slow motion, especially for the lower grades. It is a proven fact that repeated movements done slowly will be remembered by the body, so when speed is required form is not lost. Our philosophy is
"smooth is fast". We are more concerned with the perfection of technique, techniques executed with speed as the emphasis are usually sloppy.
All techniques are street
oriented and are scenario based where your partner applies a grab or an
attack and the student responds appropriately. |
